On the probabilistic nature of high-pressure die casting

This article unmasks the probabilistic nature of high-pressure die casting; specifically, cause scatter in tensile ductility die-cast Al8Si0·4Mn0·3Mg (wt.%) alloy. Scatter is related to size large pores and non-metallic inclusions. We propose that these inclusions form during pyrolysis commercial plunger lubricants, derive from dilatational strains introduced semi-solid deformation. The apparent randomness pore formation thus ascribed heterogeneous network. Reducing heat loss shot chamber shown promote a more homogeneous grain structure, leading decrease maximum 1.32 mm 0.37 mm, an increase minimum 6.8% 9.4%.
